Launched in 1985, the DMC World DJ Championships is recognised as the premier DJ competition on the planet - with legends such as A-Trak, DJ Craze, C2C, Qbert, Scratch Perverts, Roc Raida, Cash Money and Mixmaster Mike all making their name at the DMC Championships. It’s the biggest six minutes of any DJ’s life and, for the first time ever, DMC will be hosting the UK Final in the festival fields by joining forces with one of the most exciting events on the planet: Boomtown. The 66,000 capacity, five day experience with 27 stages, 80 interactive street venues and 80 musical genres - all taking place within a living, breathing, fictitious city.

Throwing it down on the Pirate.com stage from 6pm until 4am on Friday August 11th - Hip Hop's official 50th Birthday - the eight finalists battling it out for a seat on the plane to the World Finals in November will be: Dan The Hat, DJ Buckwilde, DJ Rasp, DJ Revert, Huw Wackman, Mike-L, Mr Fitz and X-Ray Ted.

As celebrations for DMC’s 40th Anniversary begin, DMC and Technics will be teaming up for a huge 50 Years of Hip Hop Celebration on the Grand Central Stage from 12.30pm until 6pm, featuring some of the biggest live artists and DJs on the planet, including: M.O.P, Craze, JFB, Joe Valence & Brae, NÜWA Orchestra, Blak Twang, Coops, Cult Of The Damned, DDouble E, Datkid, Dabbla, Dirty Dike, DJ Sammy B-Side, Dr Syntax, Jehst, Klashnekoff, Lady Leshurr, PAV4N, Rodney P, The Four Owls and TrueMendous.

DJ Clive Campbell -- I mean, Kool Herc -- threw that party at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, the Bronx, New York, on August 11th 1973, and - in doing so - forever changed the course of music history. What better way to celebrate and pay tribute 50 years on than with an old skool DJ battle at Boomtown?
